5th Grade

Dear Parents,                                                                                                                     August 11, 2015
We have become entrepreneurs for our unit “Open for Business’. Using higher order/critical thinking, the students will get an introduction as to how businesses operate, what determines their success or failure and what it takes to create a business. They will then create their own business, produce their product and sell their product at our spectacular sidewalk sale on campus! The profits will help defray the costs of our trip to TYBEE in the winter/spring.
Through this process they will learn about the various types of businesses, what make s a business successful and do they have what it takes to be an entrepreneur or an employee. Watch out Bill Gates, our 5th grade Tag kids are going to be kicking at your heels!
As we watch the volatile Stock Market, here in America and overseas, we will look at the impact of the various economic situations of countries around the globe and how/why all this impacts  our economy. Hopefully, we will become better financial planners! We will also play an interactive Stock Market game against other gifted students in 5th grade, middle and high school here in Georgia put out by the Georgia Association for Economic Education.
If you have any questions, please give me a holler: shams@fultonschools.org
The 10:00 bell is about to open – are YOU ready!?!?!?!?!?!
